PETRONAS Carigali Sdn. Bhd., a wholly owned subsidiary of PETRONAS, has achieved a remarkable feat by making six oil and gas discoveries in five blocks off the coast of Sarawak, Malaysia.
The Gedombak, Mirdanga, Sinsing, Machinchang, Pangkin, and Kalung Emas wells are a testament to their intensive domestic exploration drilling campaign, which commenced in late 2022. These discoveries stem from both new and existing oil fields and display impressively low levels of contaminants.
Datuk Adif Zulkifli, the Executive Vice President and CEO of Upstream at PETRONAS, emphasized the untapped exploration potential of Malaysia’s basins, which are waiting to be unlocked through innovative approaches. PETRONAS Carigali’s unique clustered exploration approach, tailored for highly matured geological provinces, contributed significantly to this success.
